Position Objectives

Undertake Operator and general labour duties associated with Civil and Electrical Construction and Maintenance Works.

Organisational Relationships

The position reports to project Civil Leading Hand or Civil Foreman

Duties

  • Execute work safely and economically using sound construction techniques
  • Read and understand project plans, specifications and drawings
  • Undertake Plant Operations and/or Construction works for the following:
    • Traffic signals
    • Road lighting
    • Intelligent Transport Systems infrastructure
    • URD Works
    • Civil Construction Works
  • Maintain vehicles and plant
  • Drive light and heavy vehicles including tying down and securing loads
  • Comply with Trafflec Policies, Procedures and Reference Guides  

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated ability and physical fitness to undertake construction duties.
  • Demonstrated literacy, numeracy, oral, written and computer skills
  • High level of reliability including attendance and punctuality.
  • Willingness to work in a co-operative team environment
  • Ability to plan and coordinate own work tasks on a daily basis with minimal supervision
  • High level of experience in use of plant and equipment including Excavator, Bobcat and Tipper Truck

Qualifications

  • Drivers licence
  • OH&S safety induction construction industry “Blue Card”
  • Truck licence MR and/or HR
  • Excavator Licence
  • Bobcat Licence
  • Dogman ticket (Desirable)
  • Backhoe Licence (Desirable)
  • Roller Ticket (Desirable)
  • Senior First Aid (Desirable)
  • Traffic controller level 1 and 2(Desirable)
  • Energex WCS 2, 31, 37, and 61 compliance (Desirable)

Additional Requirements

  • The position will be required to travel and work away from home from time to time.
  • The position will require weekend and shift work on regular basis
